SKY SPORTS
will broadcast live tenpin bowling for the first time with the Weber Cup, the
annual Europe vs USA challenge match.
The Weber
Cup is the ‘Ryder Cup’ of tenpin bowling, comprising three days of play from
Friday 11 to Sunday 13 November. Sky Sports will broadcast each match of the
tournament exclusively live within 15 hours of coverage.
Up to 35
singles, double and team matches will be contested across the three days at the
Barnsley Metrodome. Play begins with seven matches on the evening of Friday 11
November. Saturday and Sunday bring 14 games each spread over two sessions.
The total
pin-fall in each game will determine the winner of a match, rewarded by one
point; the first team to 18 points takes the Weber Cup. Europe has won the last
two tournaments, though the series stands at 3-2 to the USA since the first
event in 2000.
Europe’s
five-man team is captained by Sweden’s Tomas Leandersson and features the
European number one, Paul Moor from Hull. The captain of the USA – which makes
just one change from last year’s losing team - is Tim Mack of New Jersey.
